Came here 3 years ago and it tastes just as good. Fish is as fresh as the fish market and dishes were created with creativity. Drinks are pretty cool as well. We went with the shaker drink and it tasted like grapefruit tea, they confirmed there was liqueur in it. We went with the middle course and was very satisfied with the taste and how friendly the staff was. highly recommended if you’re in tokyo to come here. make a reservation.

Very fresh seafood, would recommend. Only wish the hot plates were less salty but other than that, fantastic atmosphere!

My favourite meal in Tokyo! Set menu was absolutely brilliant - all the food was fresh and tasty. The restaurant itself has a fabulous vibe and decor. Staff were really chatty and nice too.

Super delicious. Went with my girlfriend everything was great we got the full course menu. Only thing they forgot to give us the beef sushi and I was like yo I you forgot the beef sushi but it's cool I'll just pay a bit less but instead they were very sorry and brought it to us after ice cream...

Wow!!! What an excellent restaurant. It has heaps of personality, friendly, crowded and noisy and very welcoming of foreigners. The street facade is covered in surf stickers setting the scene, and inside is casual with wafts of cooking smells making you salivate upon entry.But that's the decor, and not the food - which is superb. Fresh fresh seafood, cooked beautifully. The course menu is great value and gives little tastes of everything.Bookings essential - recommend you make it before your trip to ensure you can get in.

Wonderfully fresh sushi and sashimi. Reasonable prices. Fun atmosphere. Staff go out of their way to explain Japanese food to novices. Look forward to visiting again.

Great friendly atmosphere and incredible seafood – both cooked and raw. Having eaten a lot of amazing-quality Japanese seafood on my previous visits to the country, this is amongst one of the best I've had. I highly recommend the house special of Tuna "spare ribs" – absolutely delicious, although I will say that if you're vegetarian but will bend to eating fish on holiday/when travelling, you may find this dish a touch too meaty for your liking.

Had a great time! The only rule in this place is that you can't be quiet :) The food was amazing and non stop- especially the sashimi plate and the carpacio. Ambiance is great-loud and fun. 🥩👏🍤

Great first experience, they cook an amazing tuna! Sashimi was also very good although small portion. The place is in high demand so booking in advance is highly recommended

Got the house special tuna jaws (spareribs style) and it tasted amazing. Additionally the fried noodle but nothing special, their strength is seafood (raw) therefore go there for that. Cherry blossom ice cream is a delicate dessert, I like stronger flavors but undeniably a good choice. Watch out everything you order is brought for the number of people in your group even if you order a dish each, therefore you might end up with a lot of food.

Words cant describe how vibrant and lively this place is. The atmosphere is absolutely unique and just perfect for a night out with friends! The food is not haute cuisine food but more Izakaya Type food. Totally delicious though. The portions are rather big, so you surely won't be left hungry. During a 1 week stay in Tokyo my boyfriend and I went there even twice.

We were seated without a reservation and ate a several course meal package (9 to 11 starting from 3,800 ¥). The food was great! Sashimi and Sakura ice cream are a must! The restaurant is small and noisy Izakaya style. The staff is very friendly and kind. Prices are a bit high, but we didn’t mind. Tokyo is not a cheap place when it comes to good food.

We ordered the set meal and became fuller than full 2x. But every dish was delectable. Really great atmosphere, the right place to have your final meal in Japan and say an appreciative farewell.

So delicious and super amazing experience! The service is so welcoming and even though we only booked for 4 and ended up and a party of 5 they were more than happy to accomodate! We had the set menu and while everything was amazing my favourite at the Sakura ice cream right at the end.

The food was delicious and the owner met is outside to say hello and thank is for coming. I highly recommend making a reservation here on a visit to Tokyo. Pick the middle course option and just relax while 9 amazing courses come to your table. What a meal!!!

Friendly staff, great food. On the expensive side so be warned. You can only stay for a limited time but worth the fresh food. We were a group of six and spent an hour and a half here.

Simply one of the best restaurants in all of Tokyo. The food is incredible. There's a good selection fish and everything tastes incredibly fresh. The tuna tartare and sashimi plate are incredibly good. Don't sleep on the tuna "spare ribs" either as they taste very good. The staff is beyond helpful and so friendly. They make the meal that much better. 100% recommend.

Amazing first experience of sushi in Japan and it was not a let down. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable and super friendly! Not to mention the food was incredible!!!

Tourist magnet. Nothing authentic and food was below average. Known for fish, claimed they hand pick fish from wet market every morning. Little evidence of that. Fish was overcooked and other dishes weren’t great either. Complete hype. If you are looking for an authentic Japanese meal experience. Look elsewhere.

Everytime I visit Tokyo, I always scheduled in a night here.The vibe is fun, casual izakaya, the waiters speak english and the food is ridiculously good.Think fine dining chef that decides to run a fun, relaxed izakaya but has the skills to work in the first nest restaurants.Excellent food and friendly atmosphere.10/10 will keep visiting.

Recommended by a friend who lives in Tokyo. Friendly and lively seafood focusses izakaya. Great value set menu options, ranging from sashimi, grilled and oven baked fish and wagyu options. Staff even lent us an umbrella as it was raining when we left!Reservations recommended.

Kaikaya is good fish restaurant in the back streets of Dogenzaka , Shibuya . We really liked the fish carpaccio with coriander , the big shrimps and the yaki soba . Nice and friendly atmosphere , English menu available .Highly recommended .

It was recommended by our hotel concierge when we were looking for restaurants which serves fresh fishes. However, kaikaya fishes were tasteless and therefore they were cooked with lots of oils and spices. The so called wagyu beefs they served were the worst beef we have ever tasted in Tokyo.Overall, we are extremely disappointed with the food. Don't trust the review if you are looking for authentic Japanese food.

Definitely do the tasting menu! There are 3 set menus to choose from, apart from of course separate dishes. Menus range 3'8, 4'8, 5'800JPY, at least 2 persons. Great atmosphere, excellent food. Can only recommend this strongly. Perfect start for a night out or just a good dinner.

Excellent choice for a birthday dinner. Especially loved the tuna short ribs. All of the reviews that rave about the tuna short ribs are correct, they are fantastic!! Ran out of the sake we wanted, I guess there are some popular choices on the menu. Recommend reservations.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Tokyo! The seasonal set menu was sensational, full of fresh seafood from the famous markets and mixed with nice beer and sake by our friendly waiter’s recommendation. There are hundreds of photos of happy customers on the wall and the place was packed out even on a rainy Sunday. Make sure you reserve a spot for this epic seafood experience!

We had such a fun night at this restaurant with our family of 5. Kids are aged between 5-12 - staff very accommodating and the food was delicious. Great experience - highly recommended!
